The Decades Festival Vintage Fashion Show, Entertainment, Poetry and Ball June 27

Mr. X and I decided that part of the fun of SL is being able to dress and style with your imagination being the only limitation. As a lover of fashion and history I enjoy dressing up in period outfits from Elizabethan inspired gowns and gorgeously beaded dresses of the 1920s to the hipster clothes of the 1960s.

Sonatta Morales - Sol 

We are looking forward to attending the Decades Festival on June 27 beginning at 12 SL time that will bring the history of fashion to life. Decades was conceptualized and organized by  Freda Frostbite and SisterButta.

At 2:30 SL time, the "What Shall I wear?" fashion show takes place highlighting formal attire for both ladies and gentlemen from ancient Rome through the Boho 1970s.  This all-star fashion show is being produced by  Algezares Magic and Euridice Qork of aQuarela Models and will highlight many top period designers. "What Shall We Wear" showcases how people of different eras have presented themselves in public and how social roles and customs are expressed through their choices of clothing, jewelry, hairstyles and makeup.

L'Optimiste - Silver Elizabethan Gown

The gowns range from a formal toga that could be worn by the wife of a Roman senator to an extravagant 18th century Court gown worn for the most formal of balls held by the King and Queens of France to the panache of a 1930s socialite out for "lunch with the ladies" at the most exclusive of restaurants in Paris, London, or New York. The show ends with a drop-dead glamorous formal gown that reflects today's trends in haute couture.

In addition to the fashion exhibit and show, the DECADES Festival and Ball also features 14 additional major exhibits and 15 live performances and/or interactive events that run the gamut from Renaissance music and poetry to coffee house RP.

Totally non-commercial DECADES Festival on Vahalla Island is being held to raise awareness and funds to support historic and educational communities in the metaverse.

I dream of Tobago and Mr. X and learning to dance the calypso. Spending days exploring the islands blissful bays... I can hear the beat of the steel band .... on the soft summer breeze...

I make my way slowly to the Temple of Hatshepsut as the sun blazes like a great golden orb transforming the limestone cliffs of Thebes into electrum, the favorite metal of Hathor, my sister goddess.  It will be an evening to remember... of drink and dance and celebration.

I am wearing the *new* skin called Zulay by October 4 Seasons, and the opulent gown called Lynxa by Styles by Danielle -- it is one of my all time favorites.

It happened again, in an instant. Mr X with his Aussie accent mumbles my heart (or was it head) has fallen asleep...ugh time zones...

I say to myself, I love my new leather studded sexy outfit by Resun called Brenda as I elegantly disembark from the taxi into the misty night...this outfit will wake him up!

In that moment --as our eyes meet and he takes my hand, we fall instantly in love again... "Sita, this is stunning... and you look beautiful -- Resun has outdone himself."  I say, I know!!! Check out the sandals -- sold separately they complete this look.

I am in love with the asymmetric design of Brenda's skirt that is made of 100% leather that flows on the summer wind. The rhinestone studded bolero jacket  and belt made Mr. X melt!  I like that. Brenda comes with the Sarah pearl necklace that dangles so seductively.

We will dance until midnight...then talk late into the early hours of the morning.  You would be so easy to love playing softly in the background...there is no place like Bourbon Street. 

Later, I confess to Mr. X that Brenda by Resun gave me even more confidence.  He later confesses nothing, of course. He just smiles and listens.... then takes me in his arms.... and......

Princess Perpetua, Muse and Mr. X

Tonight I go to the secret grotto... in search of the oracle... I am poor Princess Amethyst --  of ashes and crowns gained and lost...In my darkest hours I wear Perpetua by TWA in Ash and the matching  *new*  Muse  Royal Perpetua Burnished Bronze crown, earrings and ring set with amethysts with a color changing gem hud. Do  you remember... my problem... and should  I  ask the oracle what to do... she is  the light.

This is serious as the empire is at stake and I have so many choices to make... the bronze crown or the golden or the silver...Muse has made  three opulent choices all with color changing huds and all as alluring as the oracle... do you think she will show herself and tell me what I must ask Mr. X to do?

Oh great  goddess mother... I  beg you to appear as your celtic daughter that needs your wisdom and kindness... I will bring you gifts of all manner... and ..... I think I see her... do you?  Perhaps she will be the kind goddess and .... Yes! and Yes! again...she appears and I  have all my answers... now I know what to do....

In this long night I await --- soft footsteps and then...  the world is set right again... as the oracle has told me..I count the grains of the sand on the beach and I hear the voiceless...I see the stars in his eyes and I understand  the impossible is... possible....

A Note about October 4 Season Skins:

Many of October's customers  have been with her since the brand change. She will offering special courses around season color theory and how to use your mesh bodies to all October's 4Seasons group members. These sessions will be small and you must own one of the O4S supported mesh body products and be a group member.  Please note that group gifts and lucky chair items are excluded.

October will also resume teaching seasonal color theory. All O4S skins are centered around seasonal color theory and she will explain what it means and how O4S makeups are organized to assist you in your clothing and makeup choices.

These courses will be limited to 5 students each and sorted by the type of mesh product being taught. If you wish to participate in the courses please send a notecard to either October Bouvier or Vanhessa6x.  Title the notecard - "Classes - (Your Name Here)." If possible, include your calling card within the notecard.  Notecards that say "New Note" will not be considered. When the class size is established a  date will be set. 

Ghee @ FAD and Rehana Mocha - October 4 Seasons

Mr. X took me on an excursion to the House of the Tragic Poet, a typical 2nd century BC Roman House in Pompeii.

We marveled at the exquisite mosaic tile floors and lusty frescoes on the walls. We admired the vestibule floor that was decorated with a mosaic of a domesticated dog. Then we went on to FAD a new fashion venue.

Mr. X & Chiffon, Almond & Ghee & New Gift Skin October 4 Seasons

If there was ever a cake to have a rag to riches story, a Marilyn Monroe type Hollywood discovery it is the chiffon cake, a light cake with a delicate crumb that resembles an angel food cake but is richer. Created in 1927 by Harry Baker, a "hobby chef" this cake whose secret ingredients he kept to himself for decades rose faster than the stardom of Lana Turner. After trying 400 recipes to improve on the angel cake, he used vegetable oil rather than butter or shortening in his recipe and the chiffon cake was born.  It  was sought by the high rollers of Hollywood and beyond.

Mr. X and I may not be high rollers but in this new chiffon colored gown by ghee called Ophelia, I feel like a starlet.  In addition to chiffon, Ophelia comes in dove, almond and moss.  Matching fringe top or strappy heels are sold separately and are a must have.
I feel light and airy in Ophelia "chiffon" with it's sexy bodice and lace trimmed bra top. In this outfit  --- you just dress the part -- think Lana and make a grand entrance, you will be noticed.

Another find in chiffon is this classic A-line dress in a muted floral pattern. I love the delicate side seams that add a touch of sophistication -- this is an iconic look that has been turning heads for years.

Mr. X told me about the gardens of Shalimar whose name in Sanskrit means abode of love.  Built for Nur Jahan (light of the palace) it is an oasis of true beauty that overwhelms. Tonight, I plan to overwhelm Mr. X in this new jumpsuit called Nuella by Wicca's Wardrobe as we explore this ancient landscape.

Nuella is fresh, flirty and fun, in a retro vintage way that makes it a must have for summer.  I love the sharp seams that add shape to the top and the way the waist breaks into pleated legs with a tapered silhouette.

The romance of flowers!  I love the soft colors of this vintage inspired floral texture of this sleeveless jumpsuit with its delicate midriff silken accent and casual scarf at the neck.  The square cut low back adds notes of distinction to Nuella.

 Shalimar has a subtle air of leisure and repose, it casts a romantic indefinable spell, Mr. X and I wander through this leafy garden of dim vistas and pavilions, past smooth sheets of falling water and wide canals whose calm reflections are broken by the stepping stones across the streams.

One night as Mr. X and I watched the sun set, I asked him if he thought zebras were white with black stripes or black with white stripes.  Mr. X told me it is an age old question with an answer that delves into genetics and selective pigmentation that creates their striking coat.  Speaking of striking, a great new shopping event -- has just "struck" the grid --Events@1st.  Here you will find deals on exclusive items before they hit the grid.

Mr. X and I went on a "shopping safari" there and found this new dress by Nya called Beach Dress.  I love the casual flow of this dress with its overlapping top and spaghetti style straps. It comes in a yellow pattern as shown and in a "scuba" pattern that is a melage of blues and aqua.

This cute dress comes in a variety of opulent patterns, I loved the almond pattern that reminds me of Ikats that are highly collectible textiles found in Southeast Asia.

Beach Dress also comes in three lovely pastel colors that are just delightful for a long summer night.  The colors include custard, light pink and coral. The solids have an artful stitched embellishment that adds a touch of elegance, Mr. X likes that!
