I am looking forward to cherry blossom time in Japan, because it is the most beautiful time of year. The air turns soft and luminous, as though the sky itself has fallen in love with the earth. My little country lane becomes a garden of gently swirling cherry blossoms, petals drifting like pale pink snow. Each breeze carries the fragrance of spring — sweet and delicate, like my favorite mochi, dusted in powdered sugar and filled with happiness. The fabric feels light as a sigh, with a traditional collar that frames my face just so. A soft bow tied at my waist flutters playfully when the breeze teases it. Beneath it, a sweet petticoat peeks out, giving each step a gentle bounce. And on my feet, lovely flower sandals make it easy to glide among the fallen blossoms, as though I myself am part of the drifting petals. I walk slowly, carefully, savoring the moment.
Because I am on my way to meet Mr. X. Under a cherry tree heavy with blush-colored flowers, I pause. Petals gather at the hem of my kimono like whispered secrets. I take out a small piece of paper and write a haiku to love for him:
Petals kiss the wind.
Your name blooms inside my heart
Spring becomes our vow
I fold the paper carefully, pressing it close to me for just a moment. The blossoms swirl again, as if urging me forward. And I walk on — glowing, gliding — toward love beneath the cherry trees. 🌸
