Moonlight Mermaid...Romance at Swank

The water of the ballroom’s crystal fountain rose high into the air. The water became a staircase,  shimmering with sapphire light.  I stood in a gown by Purple Moon that mermaids and sirens would swoon over. This gown lights up the night with its iridescence and has a delicate embrodiered roses cascading down one side like the sigh of the sea itself. The fur cuffs glimmer with the silver light of the moon. As I descend, my eyes hold the glow of constellations reflected on quiet water as I look for him. Each movement I make scatter droplets that become tiny floating points of light...

For countless nights, I surfaced beneath the heavens, lifting my face toward the moon with hope in my heart. For I am in  love with the Man in the Moon. Wondering if he will find his way to me through the darkest tides,  hopefully the penumbra  and the thought of the waves we will make will show him the way. I adore the way this gown looks as good from the back as it does from the front.... don't you? And, still, I wait....

The moon descended. Not as a falling star or a flash of lightning, but slowly—gently—until a tall figure cloaked in silver stepped through the open sky. His face was kind and luminous, with the peaceful sadness of someone who had spent eternity watching what he could never hold. He gifted me a beautiful necklace and earrings that I will always treasure... called Sarah by Zuri...

The Man in the Moon had come at last.  I could not breathe. The sea grew still. “My moon,” I said. “My sea,” he answered. He reached for my hand. For one perfect dance, sky and ocean were no longer apart.
