Most beautiful of the nereids, this nymph -daughter of Poseidon is chained to a rock as a sacrifice to the sea monster in order to punish his vain wife.
The good news of course is that Perseus set her free - much like a knight in shining armor .... and married her. This tale has inspired many love affairs through the centuries.
